Enter Our Chat RoomSt. George’s Youth Minister’s Purpose
- To produce disciples of Christ that are committed to reaching out into the community to save souls.
- To turn seekers into saints, to turn members into ministers, to turn consumers into contributors.
What is our niche? What are we offering that is not available elsewhere?
Quality attracts quantity: Since the quality of the church becomes a selling point, we aim to
- use all aspects of the quality of the church to attract and retain the unsaved.
- keep members in a state of excitement about what the church is attempting to achieve and secure the support of the congregation in achieving the purpose of the church.
- produce doers of the Word, not hearers only
- transform, not inform
- produce effective Christians
Youth Worship Services
Target: All youths
To allow all young persons in the congregation to grow stronger through worship by magnifying God, and rejoicing in His presence and power, while allowing young persons visiting for the first time to feel free to relax and enjoy worship.
(Ps. 34:3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together).
Aim: to create a balanced service for both visitors and members.
1. Primary target: all persons attending
All aspects of Sunday, including worship, prayer & the message to be rigorously visitor-sensitive.
2. Consider honest feedback from visitors’ cards on quality of service.
3. Need to examine feedback on what is different about St. George’s Baptist Church Youth Ministries. (Note: they render personal attention and warmth throughout service).
4. Ushers, moderator, worship leader, greeters must be particularly visitor focused.
GOALS
REACHING (EVANGELISM): Communicating the Good News of God’s Word to make disciples of all nations: bringing people to God.
INCLUDING (FELLOWSHIP) Including every believer into an accepting and encouraging family where care and support can be given for the strengthening of their faith.
Objective:
- To encourage and support each other by interacting with each other as members of a single body.
Target: Congregation/members
Acts 2:42; Heb. 10:24-25
Strategy:
- Identify members of congregation, issue follow-up letter to new committed members & first-time visitors. Commitment to the body is a condition for ministry/service. Participation in church activities can be used to nurture growth and commitment.
- Plan Annual social events: To nurture a sense of family and community
- Need to transition new believers – engage in activities to build relationships, provide support and encouragement.
NURTURING (DISCIPLESHIP) Edifying each other to spiritual maturity
Objective:
- To lead believers to higher level of spiritual commitment and maturity while assisting in the common needs of all and ministering to the total person.
- To lead committed members to higher level of spiritual commitment and nurture balanced spiritual maturity while meeting the needs of all and ministering to the total person.
Target: Committed members
Col. 1:28
Eph. 4:12-13
Eph. 2:19
Rom. 12:5
Strategy: Provide learning opportunities for members. Emphasize that achieving spiritual maturity will be up to members!
GUIDING (MINISTRY)
Objectives:
- To lead the individual, family, and community into their life’s mission
- To equip members to serve the needs of each other: preparing for personal leadership
Target: Core commited members
1 Pet. 4:10
Eph. 2:10
Strategy:
Assist members to discover their gifts and talents and equip them to apply/use these to serve meaningfully in the Kingdom of God. This will involve empowering every member to live a life of devoted to the service of others.
We need to channel the positive energy of each member into making a meaningful contribution to achieving the purposes of the church.
Rom. 12:4-8 4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ,
and individually members of one another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with cheerfulness.
