PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Servant Leadership Program is a ten-month program designed to provide a thorough understanding of leadership principles through an examination of the following: leadership from a Biblical perspective, corporate leadership, attitudes, leader/worker dynamics, strategic planning and self-examination. It also seeks to give students a practical basis from which they can practice leadership skills in real life situations in the context of the principles learned. Some topics of exploration are: humility, the art of following, sacrifice, service, sharing responsibility, personal gifts, team equipping and team motivation, among others. Although the course has a strong Biblical component, its content is completely applicable to any kind of institution/organization, regardless of that organization’s religious affiliation. The program consists of the completion of four course modules: (1) Becoming a Servant Leader, (2) Leadership 101, (3) Next Generation Senior Leadership Development and (4) Establishing Leadership. Full completion of all four courses, including the passing of all assignments and tests, is required for certification.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to do the following:
- To have a practical understanding of the seven principles of leadership
- The discuss how the five related scripture verses relate to leadership
- To demonstrate a deeper understanding of their own leadership style and the pros and cons of such a style.
- To discuss the leadership styles of key leaders in the world or community
- To explain and apply the 5 levels of leadership
- E valuate overall leadership effectiveness
- To formulate a vision and mission statement, along with company objectives.
- Be empowered to overcome the temptations to poor leadership
- To outline the basic process for developing leaders in a church setting

Course Description:
This two-and-a-half month course focuses on establishing the basic principles of leadership effectiveness and helps the student to understand the strong roles of service and humility. It also prepares the leader to serve and equip his/her followers toward a higher level of effectiveness by providing clear steps in this process. The content of this course is organized around seven leadership principles and verses that help the student to evaluate and develop his/her own leadership effectiveness on a weekly basis. This course provides the opportunity for the student to understand his/her own personal giftings as they relate to service, and his/her own leadership style, while examining possible personal areas for improvement or modification. Class participation and discussion of the material and its relevancy to students’ lives as leaders is key to the learning process, and students will be expected to critically think about, share and evaluate the weekly readings.

Course Description:
This three-month course takes a detailed look at the issues surrounding true leadership. Some of the topics covered include the following: growth and discipline of a leader, prioritizing, developing trust, casting vision, the power of influence and making leadership last. The course examines several key concepts in leadership, such as the Pareto Principle and the 5 stages of leadership development. Key to this course is the examination of the lives and struggles of several key business and political (etc.) leaders in modern times and what accounted for these individuals’ success. Class participation in the form of sharing and discussing the material, as it relates to one’s own personal experience, is important in this course.

Course Description: Next Generation Senior Leadership Development is a 1.5 day seminar that provides senior leaders and potential executives with practical insights into learning how to improve leadership effectiveness up through the executive level. Executives are developed to become effective leaders of other people. They are immersed in a process that will enable them improve operational effectiveness with particular emphasis on: learning and employing three key leadership imperatives; developing effectiveness in the three dimensions of leadership; learning to excel at the six stages of leadership effectiveness; learning to inspire a life and to motivate others; developing an effective leadership style; learning to create vision, meaning and purpose for the business and for others; learning the keys to achieving results through the efforts of others; and finally learning how to effectively create leaders of others.

· Leadership Fundamentals (4 hours) – Learning how to exploit the benefits of leading effectively
o Describing and recognizing effective leadership
o Key leadership imperatives: communication; decision making; execution; building relationships

Course Description:
This three-month course is the last in the series leading toward the Certificate in Servant Leadership. It takes a close look at the strategy for developing church leaders in particular; however, the strategy examined can be applied to any institution or organization--religious or non-religious. Topics of exploration include casting vision, wisdom-based leadership development, creating a comprehensive plan for leadership development, targeting the needs of governing boards, emerging leaders, staff and interns. Class participation and discussion is integral to developing a deep understanding of the material covered.
